China Solar Eclipse

Next Solar Eclipse in China 15 Jan 2010

On January 15th 2010 an annular solar eclipse will be passing through a narrow corridor of the earth and creating a sight to behold for those in its path. It will be the LONGEST annular eclipse in the 3rd millennium – the duration will not be exceeded until the year 3043! It will be visible across Africa, the Indian Ocean, India, Sri Lanka and South East Asia and we are offering special holidays in many of these areas to witness this unusual occurrence.

The Moon's path begins in Africa and passes through several countries including Kenya where we will be able to watch the eclipse by beautiful Lake Nakuru – a real chance to commune with nature! Here the eclipse will last for almost 9 minutes.

After leaving Africa, the path crosses the Indian Ocean and the central path then continues into Asia through into India. Although the central path just misses the mainland it will still be a spectacular sight with the partial eclipse lasting for about 10 minutes. The path continues on to China where you can view the natural phenomenon in Dali on our Eclipse on Yunnan tour, or in Chongquing our Yin and Yangzte tour where it will last for just under 9 minutes.
